Big Mac Salad

This salad gets all the classic Big Mac flavors right by layering seasoned ground beef, crisp lettuce, and a creamy, tangy dressing that mimics the iconic special sauce.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Mac Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tsp pickle juice
  • 2 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup white onion chopped fine
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Salad

  • ~10 cups romaine lettuce shredded
  • 1 cup dill pickles chopped
  • 1 cup white onion chopped fine
  • 1 cup tomato roughly chopped
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar shredded
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add ground beef, cook 3-4 minutes while breaking up meat.
  • Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper; cook until no pink remains.
  • Mix Greek yogurt, pickle relish, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, vinegar, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt and pepper in bowl.
  • Layer shredded romaine in large bowl.
  • Top with cooked beef, pickles, onions, tomatoes, and cheddar.
  • Drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Notes

Can substitute ground turkey for beef. Greek yogurt can be replaced with sour cream.
